Color Therapy & Healing

Before starting with Color Therapy lets talk about what is Color?

Color is everywhere you look, and everywhere you don’t look. We see color all the time, but how often do we think about its origins and effects?

As most of us  know, color is light and energy. Color is visible because it reflects, bends, and refracts through all kinds of particles, molecules and objects. Color is simply light of varying wavelengths and, as such, is a form of energy that is used in Color Therapy. .

An Introduction to

Everyone has a relationship to color, and is affected by it, as it is intimately tied to our entire lives.  As we gaze at objects around us, we first perceive the color of an object, and then the form.  Our responses to the colors are varied, as we are attracted to some and reject others.  We use colors to describe how we are feeling all the time.

It has been known for eons of time that color plays a major role in setting up a particular mood or state of mind. Color does affect one’s feelings, moods, and emotions.

Color therapy is a type of holistic healing that uses the visible spectrum of light and color to affect a person’s mood, physical or mental health. Whether you know a name for every shade or call a spade a spade, color has a huge impact on us in many ways.

Color is simply light of different wavelengths and frequencies and light is just one form of energy that we can actually see that is made up from photons.

We all live in a world where at some point, color effect us in our every day lives. Color in everyday life is very diverse, from knowing that a fruit is ripe to eat, to understanding how Color can affect our moods:  Colors are known to have an effect on people with brain disorders or people with emotional troubles. For example, the color Blue can have a calming effect which can then result in lower blood pressure, whereas the color Red might have the opposite effect. Green is another color that may be used to relax people who are emotionally unbalanced. Yellow, on the other hand, may be used to help invigorate people who might be suffering from depression.

A Brief History of Color Therapy

Color Therapy may be something new to you, but the use of color therapy has been around for a very long time, with the earliest recording dated 2500 years ago, when, color halls were established for healing purposes all over ancient Egypt and China.

Thousands of years ago, some countries began exploring color and its healing capabilities. Egypt, Greece and China are known for their forays into color healing and therapy. A few examples include:

  • Painting rooms different colors with the hopes of treating certain conditions.
  • Utilizing colors in nature in their surroundings (blue from skies, green from grass, etc.)
  • Healing rooms that utilized crystals to break up sunlight shining through.

Although Sir Isaac Newton created the world’s first known color wheel, it was Johann Wolfgang Goethe who began studying the healing effects of color almost 100 years later. He divided colors into two different groups: one that caused sadness and another that caused happiness.

Get More Color In Your Life

Including more color into our life can benefit us in so many different ways.  Remember that each of our chakras has a corresponding color to it. Incorporating more color can help us heal a specific chakra.

Color has also been known to improve creativity and ease tension.

A few ways to bring more color into our  life:

  • Paint walls with vibrant colors
  • Decorate home with items in complementing color contrasts
  • Colored light bulbs are great alternative to boring yellow light
  • Dress in shades of color that rule the day

Ayurvedic Color Therapy in Home Interior Design

Using Ayurvedic color therapy in interior design is about balancing colors, using natural sunlight combined with colors, and using semi precious stones to harmonize living spaces and improve the mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being of the inhabitants.

According to Ayurveda, colors and colored light can improve our state of mind and has many health benefits as well. Modern psychology also has recognized the psychological effects of color on us.

The importance of color and sun energy is greatly underestimated in modern society. Our modern lifestyles often require us to sit in air-conditioned buildings with little or no exposure to sun. Sun energy revitalizes our body and improves our immune system and resistance to diseases, while the seven colors of the rainbow work with our seven chakra points to harmonize our being.

Ayurvedic color therapy uses the combination of sunlight and color to improve our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Colored light is therapeutic for mind, body and soul.

Ayurvedic experts have recommended some DIY colour therapy we can do at home.

  • One way is to place Colored Glass Bottles in direct sunlight for 8 hours, and then sip on this water 3-4 times a day. Perhaps we can simply leave these colourful glass bottles in the garden or on the balcony, and they could sit pretty in the sunlight as decorations and also have health benefits for us.
  • Colored sunlightStained glass is perfect for getting colored sunlight directly into our home, and it looks beautiful as well. This modern looking stained glass has all the 7 colors of the rainbow that we need to balance all our chakras.Using the stained glass as a roof window will make it easy for us to fully absorb the magical colored sunlight by simply sitting underneath it.

    Balancing colors

Balancing colors in the home is crucial to harmonize our mind, body and emotions. Each color has different attributes. Some colors raise our energy level, and others calm us down. Using only calming colors might lead to lethargy, while using only stimulating colors might lead to burn out and fatigue

Lets take an example of  this living room, we can see that there’s a good balance of color being used. The color black stimulates the ability to resist negative emotions, while the color white increases spirituality and promotes compassion and vitality. So we can see that black and white compliment each other nicely, and that’s why they are often used together We can also see orange and green cushions next to each other . Orange increases energy and intelligence, while green has a calming effect on the mind and nerves. Finally the color brown has a stabilizing effect.

Thanks for your publication. What I want to say is that while looking for a good internet electronics shop, look for a web page with comprehensive information on critical factors such as the personal privacy statement, basic safety details, any payment procedures, and also other terms plus policies. Generally take time to look into the help as well as FAQ sections to get a superior idea of how the shop is effective, what they are able to do for you, and ways in which you can maximize the features.

I think that what you posted made a ton of sense. But, think about this, what if you composed a catchier title?
I ain’t saying your information is not good., however suppose you
added something that grabbed folk’s attention? I mean Color Therapy &
Healing – IVS School Of Design is kinda vanilla. You should glance
at Yahoo’s home page and note how they create article headlines to get viewers interested.
You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab people excited about
what you’ve got to say. In my opinion, it would make your posts a little
    bit more interesting.
