Norbulingka – “A Knowledge Park”

This blog is to tell you about one of the different experience that I got from the Tibetan style building called Norbulingka which is also known as “A Treasure park”. It is an institute which was framed and cemented in 1995 by the Kelsang and Kim yashi at Sidhpur, a suburb of Dharamshala. The name of this precious world got from the traditional summer residence of the Dalai Lamas, in Lhasa, capital of Tibet.
The thought behind this beautiful architectural marvel is to preserve and encourage Tibetan culture and their unique art forms. It was unlike any other institute that, I have ever seen. This place is open to everyone and has too much to give back to the new generation. Norbulingka offered multiple summer workshops like Thangka sketching, Wood Carving, Wood painting, Metal Crafting, silk screen painting, and Appliqué, the best thing is each and every participant will be given their own project to work on under the supervision of an artist .other than workshop the institute is also comprised of Losel Doll Museum, Temple and Stupa with deities who are worshipped in Tibetan culture, hummingbird café for munching and chilling out, Residency options for the aspirants, and Shops like home furnishing, clothing, and accessories, etc.
The best thing of this campus is lush Green Gardens and water drains which wash-up your senses and make you feel healed from the urban hustle bustle.
This campus is an inspiration for other communities. Which is lacking behind in departing their cultural values and tradition to their new generations?
