Tribal Museums in India

Museums have a long history going back to the 3rd century B.C., when the first known museum
was opened in the University of Alexandria in Egypt. Over the years, however, the museum culture
has spread to nearly every part of the world and today it has become uncommon to find any country
that does not have a museum, no matter how small it may be. This implies that the concept of the
museum has become a global concept that has survived the 20th century.
Museums are buildings in which we see many things of artistic, cultural, historical, traditional and objects of scientific interest. It is a great source of knowledge. It not only gives us knowledge but also makes us familiar with our history, culture, civilization, religion, art, architecture of our country.

TRIBAL MUSEUMS IN INDIA

Tribal or Adivasi is a term used for describing the aboriginals of India. Living in small pockets across the country. They now form such a small minority that they almost need to be protected. Most Adivasis live in remote and usually geographically isolated areas. Follow their own distinct culture, law, and ethics. And maintain a minimal contact with the outside world. Their world is self-contained in them.

India is a land of 437 tribes. For any traveller it is virtually impossible to visit every tribe of India. Yet, the culture and lifestyle of each tribe in India is so versatile and distinctive from the other, that the excitement to travel Indian tribes never ends.
